The following sites all provide interesting information about the development, history and philosophy of Canadian law. Canadian Law: A History This part of the World Wide Legal Information Association Web site was prepared by Llyod Duhaime, a Victoria, B.C. lawyer. Many of the sections are taken from debates of the House of Commons. English Legal History Materials An analysis of the ways in which law changes, examined through the historical base of English legal history from the twelfth to the eighteenth century. World Legal History A part of the Law Museum. United Kingdom Primary Documents (Historical) Historical documents in English legal history. Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy Classic philosophy texts and discussions including legal philosophy materials. Legal History of Edmonton A brief discussion of law in the Northwest Territories as administered by the Hudson's Bay Company. Asian-Canadian Legal History A reference site for those interested in key legislation and court cases relating to Asian Canadians. Canadian Legal History - Constitutional Documents Canada's basic law derives not only from a set of documents known as Constitution Acts, but also a set of unwritten laws and conventions. This comprises of all the acts passed since 1867 up to and including 1998. risk management issues. The Legal Profession in CanadaLawyers in Canada are governed by provincial law and by professional bodies established under the governing legislation (Law Societies). In addition, lawyers choose to associate themselves in professional bodies for the purposes of continuing legal education, public service and education, and legislative reform (Bar Associations). Some of these bodies are federal and some are provincial. The sites listed below include the Law Societies of each province and a selection of other professional bodies.
